People run for a variety of reasons. Some people run because they want to improve their health, to relax and feel better about themselves, challenge themselves and compete in a race or just to try something new. Whatever your reason for running, Rodillian Runners can help. Whether you need advice about nutrition or training, want to run races or just want to enjoy running, we could be the club for you. We have runners who race regularly for their own enjoyment, and we have runners who never want to pin on a race number! And if you’re working towards a specific goal, the chances are there are others doing it as well.
We have a wide range of abilities within the club, though we do ask that you can already run approximately 3 miles at 12-minute mile pace or faster. Our Distance League is set up so that everyone competes at their own level, and rewards perseverance as well as speed. Our club championship challenges our runners to do their best across a wide variety of races.
Importantly, we are a community. On Saturdays you’ll see us running (or volunteering) at one of the many parkruns around West Yorkshire, often stopping for a drink and a chat after. On Sundays we enjoy a longer run along one of the many canal paths and trails around Wakefield, or a muddy x-country course – enjoying the feeling of getting out there. We meet up for regular social events and also have a busy members-only Facebook group. We’ll keep you interested in running and help you improve as a runner – along the way meeting new people and doing things you never thought you’d be able to do!
So, if you’re thinking about giving us a try, come down to our Tuesday night training sessions at Stanley Rodillians Rugby Club on Lee Moor Road. We meet in the car park or in the club house at 6:45pm, although many of our members are there from about 6:30pm to have a chat.
We look forward to seeing you there!
